First Stop Food! ... I Mean Bangkok
Our second stop was a bit more extensive than a quick trip to Khanom. We headed to the Surat airport and boarded a plane to Bangkok which would be the first of many stops over the next two weeks. Our friends Kate and William met us there to wish us well on our journey.
Since we arrived rather late at night we decided our first stop should be a bar...an Irish pub to be precise. I needed a little taste of home! We grabbed some beers at a place that was going through an identity crises and couldn't decide if it was called O'Reilly's or O'Brien's.
Our second stop was the next morning and involved some more of our favorite things: pancakes and bacon! Joe looked up places that had been named best breakfast in Bangkok and we found Chu, which was known for its stuffed French toast. However, the pancakes caught our eyes and dear god I'm glad they did. When I say best pancake in the world, I don't mean I haven't had a pancake in a while because I live in Thailand so this got the job done, I mean BEST PANCAKES IN THE WORLD.
The sole reason we even made a stop in Bangkok was so J.Lav could get a custom tailored suit...how fancy! We did our research and Crown Tailor was the winner! Sukhumvit Road was definitely turning into our favorite spot in BKK - pancakes and suits?! Everyone's happy!
We tried to be a little cultural while we were there and stopped into a few museums along the way and met some new friends. They're kind of a big deal...
Out on the town we ran into some Surat friends by chance and spent the night perusing Khao San Road - bars, red light district and Burger King because...well...I don't have to justify my burger needs to you!
Unfortunately, Joe became really sick the rest of the time in Bangkok so I spent my days wandering Lumpini Park and eating Mexican food. I don't know if you've caught onto Bangkok's theme but it had something to do with me eating my way through the city.
Stay tuned for the next leg of our trip which was more culturally enriching than our food fest here!
